Our Senior Management Team (SMT) are responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative leadership of the University.

Each member has responsibility for managing different areas from strategic development to academic development.

Frances Corner,

Vice-Chancellor

Vice-Chancellor  Professor Frances Corner OBE is the academic and administrative leader of Goldsmiths.

Previously Head of the London College of Fashion and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Arts London, Professor Corner brings more than 20 years’ experience in higher education leadership to Goldsmiths.

David Oswell

David Oswell, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange

Professor David Oswell is responsible for leading the development and overseeing the implementation of Goldsmiths’ Research and Enterprise Strategy.

David joined Goldsmiths in 2001 and from 2013 to 2016 was Head of Department for Sociology. His current research interests concern the social life and history of children, childhood and children’s rights.

Annabel Kiernan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience

Professor Annabel Kiernan is responsible for strategic oversight of the College’s academic portfolio, education and the student experience, and academic staff progression and development. 

A political scientist by discipline, Annabel’s academic career spans three decades, with leadership roles focused on transforming teaching and learning, advancing inclusion, and supporting student success across the sector.

Adam Dinham

Adam Dinham, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Society and Innovation

Adam Dinham is Professor of Faith and Public Policy and Director of the Faiths and Civil Society Unit at Goldsmiths. He previously served as Co-Head of the Department of Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies from April 2020 until July 2022, and was Director of Research in the Department in the lead up to REF 2021.

Adam’s research interests focus on a social justice framing of religion and belief as a protected characteristic in equality policy and practice, particularly across health and social care and schools. He is professionally qualified in Social Work and psychotherapy.

Imran-Chughtai

Imran Chughtai, Chief Finance and Infrastructure Officer

Imran joined Goldsmiths in September 2021 as CFO. He became acting COO in December 2023 and is responsible for People and Organisational Development, IT and Digital Services, Estates and Facilities, Strategic Planning and Projects, and Communications, Marketing and Recruitment.

He previously worked for Aamal Company Q.P.S.C, a publicly listed company operating within Industrials, Life Sciences and Real Estate sectors where he was Group CFO.

Prior to Aamal, Imran was Group CFO at Zuellig Pharma, Asia’s largest Pharma distributor, having also worked at Huawei Technologies and Whirlpool Corporation.

Margaret-Bird

Margaret Bird, interim director of People and Organisational Development

As the executive lead of the People and Organisational Development directorate, Margaret is responsible for delivering the College’s human resources work. She joined Goldsmiths in July 2024, bringing extensive experience from a career in the NHS and higher education.
